A Houston police officer is apologizing for his foul language and racial slur caught on tape. That officer, who's name has not been released, was working extra security at Hush nightclub Saturday when a fight broke during a graduation party. A cash register was stolen in the confusion. The promoters at the club that night say they questioned the officer about their inability to control the crowd at the event that mainly catered to Prairie View A&M graduates. Corey LeDay says when the officer, who is African American, was confronted he called Blacks at the club niggers. LeDay also says the officer told him fuck his money and Prairie View A&M. The entire incident was captured on tape by LeDay's business partner Steven Bentham. Alvin Mitchell, who is the third promoter with Top Dawg Entertainment says he couldn't believe the officer's behavior. That officer has since apologized in this written statement.
"I deeply regret the poor choice of words that I used during a heated conversation in the club office with the promoter of the event. The event had gotten out of control when a large, unruly crowd overwhelmed club security personnel at the club entrance. Members of the crowd stole a cash register after trampling a female employee, sending her and other innocent people to the hospital. I allowed my frustration to get the best of me when the promoter seemed only concerned about his lost profit, and not the welfare and safety of the innocent people who were injured. Even though others had used the offensive phrase in prior conversations, I should not have allowed myself to respond in kind. I do not feel that the use of such language is acceptable under any circumstances, and I apologize."
The promoters also wanted to apologize to the graduates who attended the event at HUSH nightclub. The promoters say they never take their clients for granted and they send their deepest regrets for the incident.
